Good analysis. I think Nakamura lost the game at the opening. Kan? transposed into Scheveningen allowed alot of wasted moves. Modern Scheveningen shows that a6 and Qc7 are irrelevant. Then there wouldn have been a need for b5 and Rd8 Bb7

Sozialneutralist, I have to apologize. I didn't mean to dismiss you. It's absolutely a valid question, and a good one. The? great Aron Nimzovich was a proponent for doubling your opponent's pawns, noting advantages and disadvantages. In this case I think the doubling of pawns on the c file is a disadvantage because they're not in the center where they could exert more influence. Try running a computer analysis on it and experiment yourself. :)

It's an obvious question for lesser rated guys. From what? you say now, there emerge new questions to me: Why is a double pawn worse than a single pawn at the same file? Or vice versa: would you place an extra pawn on your board for free, even if it would be placed in front of another pawn? I would, in a neutral position. If "Bd3" (I assume you mean Bd2) is the answer, Nakamura feared, why didn't he took the pawn after whites Ba3 with check? To save time, in every case...

It's not an obvious question, because it's a move Naka wouldn't have made (Qxc3). If Qxc3, Bd3 blocking? check, and even though Ivanchuk would be down a pawn, this would've undoubled his pawns and he wouldn't have queen-side paralysis.

Define "predetermined games". I know that often times they play book moves well into move 20, but I see nothing wrong with playing what has been proven to give the advantage so long as you can. Also, I would argue that Bobby would not have "CRUSHED" Kasparov, and I? think they are pretty equally matched, if not favoring Kasparov even. Morphy played interesting chess, but by today's standards, he wouldn't stand a chance. Fischer was great, but ultimately, nothing but a quitter.

To add to what Mato said, not only does 4... e5 enter the Kalashnikov a tempo behind, but it also suffers from the main weakness of the Kalashnikov (it also has strengths, of course!) which is that his d5 square can not be defended by pawns and is thus very weak. White can then base? his play around putting a knight on e5 where it controls the centre very powerfully and prevents black from opening up the position by playing d5 himself (this d pawn is a weak or backward pawn). Hope this helps!

Right, e5 wins the knight at 2:01, as ledgeleaper pointed out earlier. And to answer your question about what I was thinking about after the knight sac at 5:10, I was thinking, "Did I miss something? Some deeper combination?" Sacs sort of make you second guess yourself, but I just had to reassure? myself that the bishop was enough defense, and then think about what could come next. That's why the queen blunder surprised me. My opponent got too excited about crashing through.

Nice video, my thoughts while I watched it: 2:01 e5 wins the knight because of the discovered? attack on the queen. What were you thinking about for so long starting at 5:10 after the knight sac? Also, I thought it was cool that I had seen the possible bishop trap that white tried for with f4 at 1:45 a few moves before he tried and that you came up with the same exact response to it as I did (d6).

@TadayoniKian, chesscube sucks, though it looks fancy. I tried it last week because of these videos, and I played a game and won, but it costed me 10 cubits (which you start out with). They advertise it as free, you still have to buy cubits or play free tournaments just to get cubits so that you can play? other games. I abandoned chesscube, and registered at freechess, then used BabasChess in conjunction with the freechess account. There's a lot of good players on there.

I watched this video #26 after watching you win in #27. I started guessing your moves.I saw you doing good, especially when you took with your Queen in F6. Then holy $hit. time started running out. I'm not sure if he has any titles, but Jerry is certainly playing bullet and blitz to an IM standard (2400+). So yes, the ratings? are inflated. I'd imagine super GM level would be around 3300 on Cube, but I've only seen 2800-rated players there.

he means open files, ranks, and columns. yes - an open game. bishops are important in open games knights are important in closed games new players should get comfortable open games because they are more tacital. better players can play closed games as they are a bit slower and require more strategy. I have read all this in books and stuff.?

Whenever you hear open, closed, or semi-open, they are? talking about pawn structure. The open sicilian lines are named such because the theory involves early exchanges of pawns in the opening which open the game up for both sides. Conversely, closed sicilian lines avoid the early pawn exchanges that free the movement of black and give him more counterplay. They aren't necessarily the sharpest lines and thus, don't give white as big an advantage. It's a risk/reward kind of game.

Should have a good game after 2. Bc4 d6 3.Kf3? Kf6 4.Kc3 e6, but u gotta watch out for 5.d4 cxd4 6.f3xd4 7.Be7 g4! A higher ranked player completely destroyed my Sicilian Defense with this line the other day. I think it's called the Keres Attack and you see it a lot after .....e6 in the Sicilian because ......e6 stops ur Queen's Bishop from defending that move. I was gonna ask KC that as well, what are the strongest lines for black against this g4 move when black plays e6?
