No worries! It really helps to have imput from others so I can figure things out and make it easier for you all to view. For the next two, I film? from across from me (so you're watching me) and had someone sit in to work the camera. I would have never done that if you hadn't said anything, and it worked out great!

Okay, after Rhomany replied I went to take another look at her vids and realized it is the angle and the distance on this vid that bothered me (and I feel like a sh*t for even mentioning it on a vid you have so generously put out there for others to learn by). If the camera were more directly over the work and closer to it, I think that would be ideal. Just my opinion and? you know what they say about those. Thanks!

Samantha, have a look in your editing program and see if you have a rotate 180 degrees. That way you can film from in front and then rotate the whole thing so we see what you see. That's how I film mine. It? avoids the whole 'head in the way' thing at the same time.

I now use poster board from Walmart for all my journals! Thick and? cheap, it's got a coating on it that makes working on it a breeze. And I can get three journal out of one $3.50 ten pack!

I'm really enjoying your videos. I found them today and made a journal. Mostly I like it but the spine doesn't look like yours - all flat and thick and chunky. Mine? tapers almost to a point and the ends of the papers don't line up. Does this make sense? Maybe a common beginner mistake? Any help appreciated and I love the way your chunky journal looks!

How do you "seal" the watercolor when you're done playing so you can do other things on the page without reactiving the background? When I try to gesso over, it smears; even spray sealant doesn't really cover it, I have to do a few coats because the wetness of the spray will? make things run. I know it's not about being perfect, but dammit when I spend an hour on a background, I want it stuck!

I think making the text as pretty and interesting as the rest of a page in an art journal is another way to embellish the page. I agree with Samantha my mood can very much be recognized by how I am writing. Nice vid Sam thanks for? taking the time to give some new ideas to add to our pages (by the way, the less common and mundane the happier I am, so funky text is a thumbs up in my book. =)

Not really. Handwriting all depends on how you're feeling at the moment. Looking at different styles of it is the same to your mood as picking a color for your entry's background or a? collage element to paste down.

I do use a hand barrier cream I picked up at Blick. Yes, there are certain pigments that can be bad...one of which is cobalt, one of my favorites. The type of? cream I use is EZ Care Invisible Barrier. I even use it for post-tattoo moisturizing! It's all natural and good for you. ;) Please be safe! And I'd love to visit...if I ever visit TX!

Yes, the container says 24 hours, but I never listen to it! If the layer's not sticky anymore, I'll start workin' on it...many of my gesso layers have finger prints from me trying to see if it's dry enough.? ;)

I've made some journals similar to this and to cover the spaces between the signatures that may be unsightly, just use some cordinating colored ribbon and tie the ribbon in a Square Knot at the top of? your journal. You can also tie ribbons through the centers of the signatures, this will stregnthen the binding for the wear/tear of future use and secure the signatures more tightly to the cover. This will also keep them from coming away from the cover, as mine can sometimes do. :D

I can't THANK YOU enough for your video! All I have to do to finish mine is the cover.? I used one of my sons old school books. Not sure if you've thought of it by now BUT... instead of hand sanding I used my dremel & 120 grit bit came out pretty good for Book #1. I've always had a hard time keeping a "Journal" but Im a Born crafter so when my shrink told me to keep a journal I thought ART Journal.... BOY is she in for it!!! Thanks again BeadLJuice

I love making my journals too and my first journal I made (and am still using...still a newbie here) is very similar to this book...I followed a tutorial on Teesha Moore site...but alas the sole difference is that instead of canvas board you? use the cover off a discount store journal!!!! How genius! I alter these all the time to you as inspo journals and notebooks so I have tons of these. The next time I make a art journal i will try this idea out, thanks so much for sharing!

I've really missed your timelapse videos! I've always enjoyed them in the past and was sorry to see them replaced by ustream vids. Timelapse videos gives a lot more content within a shorter period of time. I also love how you did a voice over for this vid. The only shortcoming of a timelapse video is that you don't? know the details of the work being done, but your voice over solve that problem by explaining what's going on. I had no idea a cream would be as effective as say gloves. But perhaps you could show you putting this cream on in your videos so people understand? Or put it in the credits? somewhere? There are so many people watching your videos and ustream, it's a very good lesson to learn and I don't think can be repeated enough.

I have the EZ Air Invisible Care barrier hand cream to protect my hands. It's also a great lotion to use for new tattoos, since it's all natural and creates a great protective barrier. Don't worry -- Kelly Kilmer is my Mama Bear protector, and explained all this to? me months ago. I've advised people to use the cream as well, and take it to all my in-person classes for students to use. ;)

please be careful of what colors you are spreading with your hands. Some artist grade colors- especially those like the cadmiums have toxic heavy metals in them. If you plan on spreading paints with your hands/fingers please buy those that say "hue" on them? to avoid the long term health effects of such heavy metals. The pigments that color paints, even acrylics have not changed much over time and are not good for you to get on your skin. Cadmium and mercury are EASILY absorbed through your skin.

I am surprised no one ever mentions Perfect Paper Adhesive. The matte finish is great and not sticky and you can brush it over the top of collages to seal it. It? is an acrylic product and it is PERFECT. I buy it at Michael's with a coupon. Once I tried this I threw all of my Mod Podge away.

I would also suggest that if you like to use the heavy body acrylics that you can rub your pages down with wax- I? use a 50/50 mix of parafin and bee's wax. I rub it ontot eh page, then buff it on with a rag, sometimes i use my heat gun to get a really heavy layer, and taht keeps my acrylics from sticking. ALSO if you use your watercolro crayons over the top of teh page it keeps the acrylics from sticking.

thanks for all the tips! it's helping. But I still have questions... hope you won't mind. The funny thing is, I always let me pages to try for like a week. I usually do something in the page and leave it for the next day. And after a week, then I close it, it still stick!!! Even if I use only liquid acrylic, they stick at the fold (you know? at the spine area). Gesso, semi-gloss, they all stick. It's annoying. People told me to use wax paper...
