I have a Love / Hate relationship with paper trimmers. I think I have finally found one that may be the one I have been always looking for. In this video I show you many of my past paper trimmers and why they have failed me, the things I liked about them and my dislikes. And my newest find that may be the answers to my prayers. creationsbychristie. blogspot.com

Very helpful video as I'm looking for a new trimmer. I currently have the large and small Cutterpede but the extension arm broke off my large one with general use. I've sent 3 emails to the maker, EK Success to see if I could get a replacement arm but no response to any off them which is disappointing and will make me question future purchases of their products. I think it is a good beginner cutter but would like one that holds the paper down on both sides of? the blade so you get a straight cu

So far the Fiskar's Premium has been working for me. ? I've been using it for well over a year and I like it. I like it so much I brought a second as a spare. Will still check out Purple Cow. TFW Doreen

PS - I have both the metal Purple Cow and the 'purple' plastic Purple Cow. Sorry - forgot to specify the two kinds I have. I also used the one from Costco (metal) with all the different trimmer blades? (scallop, victorian, etc) and it's great too. I just thought 3 were too much and took it back right away. Hope you find a favorite paper cutter :D

Hi, Dorreen, Many people love the regular Tonic (big one) trimmer. For me, I love the Purple Cow trimmers. Here are some reasons why: Very light weight - no blades so you don't have to buy any and yet they are super sharp - can't cut fingers (special 90 degree edges nothing sharp) - I've dropped mine, and they have not broke :D :D :D, - I can "see" the measurements and have even used a Sharpie pen to mark my most common cuts - guillotine one side, trimmer other side. Love them! Best? wishes!

Fellowes Neutron Proton? or Electron are the best cutters you can buy for under $50. Nothing else will compare.

I'll have to keep this one? in mine if the Fiskars doesn't work for me. TFW

Hi Doreen, I laughed because we've had? the same path in Trimmers. I like Tonic Guillotine in the end, Self sharpening and I have a 12" and 8.5". Check out Amazon for price comparison. In the long run when you don't need blades it is cheaper.

You are quite welcome. I have been using my Fiskars Premium since I recorded this video and I've? changed the blade once. When matting my cards or doing any cutting using the paper trimmer I put the paper right on the line and that seems to work for me.

Thank you soo much for this video. At least I now know some of the ones that I don't want I have and old fiskers and a newer one. My biggest problem with the trimmers is accuracy. I have a very hard time getting, especially if I want to layer paper for cards, the cuts to be accurate. Learning where to put my? paper on what part of the line is a problem. Do I leave the line showing? do I cover the line. I never seem to get the same cut twice. Thank you again.

Thanks for the info. I've been using the Fiskars Premimum trimmer for about a year now and I love it. Now if I? could only find a good glue gun :-( TFW

As Seen on TV - Craft-Lite Cutter - with Light I like this trimmer because of the different blades available to make the cutting edges fancy. I also have several fiskar trimmers, and one or two others as well. I do however like the type of trimmer that allows me a different? edge cut rather than the same old straight cut all the time.

Thanks for the comment. I guess everyone gets different results for their trimmers. I have had the? last one Fiskars Premimum trimmer for the past 10 months and have had no problems. The cutting has been great. Have not experience the fluffy pieces on the edge. I know someone who uses the trimmer as well and she did have that problem, but it she just changed the blade and it is still working great for her. Good luck with what you're using. I say if it works keep using it. TFW

This video was very helpfull but i have to disagree witht the last fiskars trimmer... I went through two of those plus 2 packs of replacement blades and i had little fluffy things on the adge of oaper every time, even on my lightest patterened paper! I also tried the martha stewart cutter which really stinks, but her circle cutter is great! Anywho, ive gone back to my original office max guillotine cutter, it works better than either of those! Im? going to give a rotart cutter a try because ive

Thanks? for the info on the Cutterpede and TFW
By: alathenasidericus. on 12 Aug 11, 06:25:52
Oh I also forgot. The Cutterpede comes in two size. The15 inches (which I have) and the Cutterpede Mini of? 10 inches (I think) that has the elbow at 5 inches.
By: alathenasidericus. on 12 Aug 11, 06:18:03
I have the Cutterpede EK Success. The Pros. Not too bulky, with extendable arm (which also bends at 6 inches). Rotary blade . Ruler lines are pretty visibles.Other blade types are available. The cons. Has a cutting mat under the? blade so if used up you have to buy another but you get 4 uses by turning it around. Mine is starting to give a crooked cut, but I've had the blade for 6 years. Ruler is in plastic, so there might also be a slight wear. 20$ at Walmart. They also carry blades and mat.

Aww, Doreen... Your vid was informative and funny as well, as I chuckled several times at the Too Big/Too Small Goldilocks references :) I started one year ago w/an exacto guillotine-type from wal mart. I? gave it to a friend and opted for the provocraft one. I loved the size and in a busy first year I changed the blade twice, which I thought wasn't too bad (esp since I got the trimmer and blades at 40%discount)... But it's recently been cutting at a slight angle. I realized at first that I

Hi Valerie glad to see I'm not the only one who has done damage to their cutters. I'm loving the Premium Fiskars so far I haven't had to change the blade but once since I got it. I gave up trying to see the numbers with the others. Never thought to use a sharpie to darken the lines. Thanks for the tip in case I have to go back to? one of them. Hugs Doreen

I also got the Premium ROATARY (with the? smaller roller blade) and I LOVE that one...I use this the most...fold in half...cuts beautifully...so I tend to use this one the most for now. I have three daughters and they are 13, 9, and 4 so at some point they will be using my "old" ones and if they mess them up...it won't be a big deal. Blessing to you Doreen!!! Sorry it was so long...
