I am not chinese or asian for that matter but this scene made? me very emotional because I have this same relationship with my mother . Emotions and humanity transcends race and skin color. Wonderful story and fantastic film thank you Amy Tan.

Unfortunately not,? it was seen as stereotypical. I can see why one would think it was 'cheesy' but that doesn't mean it can't be 'best quality'. That is like saying because someone is black they are going end up in a gang, it is quite stereotypical to label something as 'stereotypical'.

This clip is so incredible. It goes to show that appearances are deceiving. One might? think their mother scrutinizes them and wishes they were a better child or more successful, but it's wrong. Her mother loves her and to hear it said so beautifully by a character that we thought was thoughtless is shockingly touching. Brilliant ending: "Must be born this way.".

I just remember seeing the part where she drowned the baby when I was real little, it traumatized me it was so horrible,? the only part I ever saw.
