Hi! The C plate is used depending on the type of die you use to cut. For example, Sizzix dies are pretty thick and don't require the plate but... MFT, Paper Trey Ink, Spellbinder's die are all pretty thin and small so you need the thicker C? plate to sandwich the dies snuggly in the machine. I hope this helps :) Have a good one.

As far as I can tell, the bed has not been widened. You're right, it would have been nice if they did so. My? regular sizzix dies fit through just fine. TFW!

While the machine was being improved/upgraded it would have been nice to have the bed of the machine slightly widened. As far as I know some of the wider Sizzix dies will not? feed through the original Cuttlebug. Do you know if the v2 is any wider?

Thanks for this video!!! I mean it. I bought other embossing plates & dies from different companies & tried, it wasn't embossing or was it cutting. Gosh! I was really irritated. Then I realized? I needed the C plate & went to 3 LSS to hunt for the C plate. Guess what, they don't have it. What a waste of my time & I still can't get to do my thing! I'd definitely prefer having the C plate then that embossing folder which is gonna be redundant. Tks for confirming my doubt. Now I have to get online.

Thanks for your question :) Yes, I've noticed this. The embossing is so deep. What you can do to fix this is use a thinner plate and then just shim it with some paper so that it fits in the Cuttlebug but not as tightly. I hope this? helps :)

Have you noticed that the embossing folders nearly punch all the way through the paper? I've used several different brands of cardstock, and can still see some daylight through? the paper after embossing. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thank you for the fair review. I want to upgrade my original Cuttlebug but I don't like that they don't include the C plate with this new machine. That's ridiculous? marketing. I use my C plate all the time..it should be part of the package. I will buy a Big Shot instead.

Thanks for your question :) C plates are slightly thicker than B plates and? way less thick than the A plate. They generally give a better fit sometimes when using different dies as not all dies are the same thickness. In some cases, you will need to use a shim to get a snug fit through your machine. The shim can be anything from a piece of cardstock, paper or chip board. I hope this helps!

@fefelants Thanks for your comment :) My V1 came with a C plate and it's odd that yours didn't. Mine says right on the box that it is included. Makes you think.... Also, like I mentioned in my video, the V2 is exactly the same mechanically as the V1. I didn't find any differences other than the shape and slight colour variation with the V2. I have not had any issues with the smaller platforms as? I've been using the newer machine for the last couple weeks. Thanks again.

I have CB v1 and mine did not come with the C plate. I had to purchase mine separately and it was VERY hard to find then where it's relatively easy to find now. I was hoping that your "review"? would go into whether it works the same as v1 and if the smaller platforms give any problems.

Yep, that is me too. I have separate? plates for my cuttlebug too. I too was horrified the first time I cut and it left marks. I thought I'd done something wrong and didn't use it again for cutting for a long time. Now I have two sets and emboss and cut to my hearts content. Love the video.

HI there I laughed when I saw? your video because I also got seperate labeled B and C plates - a set for embossing and a set for cutting. I was horrified the first time I used a die-cut and it engraved the B-Plate, so I got another set so that I could indulge my anal-retentive tendencies. Thanks for the tutorial.

Thank? you so much - I have only recently purchaseda cuttlebug :-) I have "Tan" mat too - we have one in the UK called a No more shims mat. You can also use it to emboss thin embossing plates (the old style use on a light box) or even things you find such as leaves, keys, buttons and charms :-)

I bought the rubber mat and the texture plate from Stampin UP and tried using them with my Texturz plates but I cannot get the right thickness to get a properly embossed image. I have tried using cardboard or a small stack of cardstock to act as a sandwich and I did get slightly better results but still haven't acheived that perfect embossed image yet. ?

Have u tried putting 1 or 2 pcs of cardstock on top of the 2nd Spellbinders mat? That will give a little more thickness. The embossing? shows up really well with mine using this recipe, but I think every machine is a little different. So you might need to tweak the recipe and find out what works for you. My friend uses this recipe: A plate, Fiskars plate face up, Paper/Cardstock to be embossed face down, Spellbinders mat, C plate. I tried her recipe and it's way too thick for my machine.

I just got mine but am already irritated. It did not come with a C plate, so I had to order it, then of course I wanted? the extended plates. (I am sort of new to die-cutting. I do own a cricut, and am still learning with it but it seems very different from this). I know your comment is a year old, but I just need to say... did you even? watch the video? She didn't say to put A, B and C plates in. Use your A plate, fiskars plate, paper, embossing mat, and C plate. No B plate! Of course you couldn't fit it in your cuttlebug if you stacked that on as well. I found this video to be very helpful, as I have had these plates sitting around for years and did not know how to use them.

I purchased a cuttlebug and it did NOT come with the? C plate. I purchased it from Joann's online (on sale). The new Green & yellow cuttlebugs Do NOT come with the C plate. I did not realize it until I got the machine. It came with directions, 1 embossing folder, 1 A Spacer, 2 B cutting pads, and the machine itself. I am going online now to order the Thin Die Adapter and Cutting Pad C, while its still on sale.

I purchased the tan embossing mat from spellbinders that you mention and assembled my fiskars? plate plus the A,B and C plate it it didn't even budge through the machine. Since my Cuttlebug is new I didn't want to break it by shoving it through. Was very disappointed.

I? have a cuttlebug and I've attempted numerous times to use my fiskars template....and somehow it's never come out correctly until now....so thx alot! Anyhow I am wondering if if''s suppose to be somewhat hard to put through as if I'm forcing it?

no need to buy the embossing? mats, which can cost $15 or more. I bought plumbers gasket (mat) at Lowe's for 98 cents. There are two different mats, make sure you buy the thinner of the two at 1/16. Hope this helps. Happy Embossing

Funny !! I couldn't help but laugh at how you screwed it up when you put the tan mat on - and shoved the paper up too far! When it came out half-embossed and really messed up, you tried to brush? it off - as if you intended to do that on purpose! Would it have killed you to just take two minutes and re-do it properly? By the way - if you simply CLEAN the bottom of the CB, the suction will return and you won't have it wobbling all over the place.
