Geographically speaking most of Egypt is in Africa. But it also has a border with Israel which is considered to be in the Middle east and there is no reason to consider the Sinai (which belongs? to Egypt) region more as being part of Africa than being part of the Arabian peninsula. The Egyptian culture is also very similar to other middle eastern countries (food, language...). So Egypt is considered as being part of the middle-east.
