Way too fast in my opinion. They're a good interpretor but even the Largo section was fast, which defeats the whole idea of it. The middle section is supposed to be serene and calm compared to the fiery Allegro Agitato section. They also played the A section? so fast the first time, they were unable to speed it up for the final Presto.

Does anyone know if there is, or ever has been, a major competition where contestants can see, before applying, a list of everyone who will be serving on the jury (caveat emptor and all that)? Are there any music competitions, too, where the? scoring of each individual jury member is made public at the time final decisions are reached (or at any time thereafter for that matter)? (I'm thinking of the total transparency we see in Olympic competitions where the outcome is determined? by a jury.)

This is gorgeous playing, probably closer to Chopin's own playing than the equally admirable Daniel Barenboim's more masculine approach; these are the two outstanding performances of this elusively challenging Nocturne, and not even Rubinstein or? Horowitz come close, although Arrau has his points.
