So, I royally screwed up when I was talking numbers, but that's ok...haha
Feeling much better than I was before about the surgery, of course now there is a possible complication so I could spiral right back down depending on the results. I go for a CT scan Thursday morning.
Last week I lost: 0 lbs
This week I lost: 8 lbs
Starting Weight: 355lbs
Current Weight: 323 lbs

Congrats on the 32 pounds. I was in such horrible pain when I had my surgery. Its been 4 weeks and? I still feel tired a lot. I have lost 23.4 so far. Not sure why its not as high as others. Having trouble getting the protein in and water.

my surgery was over at 7pm on monday - i cried and said what have i done for 3 days, normal i am pretty strong. It is hard to be around food so? good choice not going. i miss it on the liquid stage - it will be hard my family eats in the other room cause i miss texture! how is your pain? Walmart has for 25-30 bucks a nice one digital, keeps track for 12 weeks up to 380 lbs

I felt like I was going crazy post op and I researched more than anyone I know. I didn't feel like? the rest of the people either. I was very depressed and angry, sad and scared. Looking back I do think it has to do with the anesthetic they give. After a few weeks I felt a lot better, and now being almost 2 years out, I do not regret my surgery one bit!

This is an interesting perspective. I always feel that way after I've been to the dentist. I agree about the anesthesia. I'm so glad you posted this because I'm planning to go for the surgery and never thought of how? emotional I might be. Good to keep in mind!

I definately think that this will pass. I haven't had the surgery yet, but anesthesia is a major depressant. Get u some scales so u can see your progress. U've made a major change to your body & it would be weird if u didn't think about it. Your mind is still used to eating whatever & u can't turn that off instantly. U have to focus on the foods you eat now bc u r adjusting, but once you are used to? eating that way maybe you won't think about it so much. Especially when trying on smaller clothes

I've heard of plenty of people regretting their surgery. Those people usually end up talking about how much they love it afterwards. Be patient with yourself. The emotional ups and downs are the worse, but? it will get better. You are in a period of adjustment and healing. Hugs to you and I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

It is normal to feel "buyers remorse" up to a month after surgery. YOu will be fine, I promise. You are still at the stage of, "I cannot believe I just did? that to myself!!" When you heal more, exercising helps emotionally.

Hey surgery sister!! You are not alone. I am? really having a hard time with the full liquids diet.I went to lunch today w/ my bestie and I felt like a freak! There was nothing there I could eat and I picked at some mashed potatoes and felt bad because they were not on my list. Emotions run all over the place after any kind of anesthesia. When I? came home and felt super sick the 1st thing I thought was... what the heck did I get myself into? I was fine before why did I do this? I PROMISE that feeling passes. Once you are getting back to life as usual you will start feeling better. I mourned my "regular life" for a little while but I got passed that feeling of abnormality... and started seeing changes and feeling better with the decision. I love my RNY now

Hey girl, been there done that. I had a two week preop diet that just so happenned to fall over the fourth of July! My family bbq'd & we had company. So, as they were all munching on juicy burgers (my favorite pre-op) I sat there taking bites of my oh-so-not-fab protein bar. Point is U are normal & it is only reasonable to experience a greiving period for foods & eating activities that U are, for the most part, leaving behind for your new healthier life.? Hi...I just realiested that I don't know your name?...Anyway, I had doubts because I love food so much and I was afraid that I couldn't eat properly afterwards...I'm now entering my first month out of surgery, and I can almost eat anything and everything...It's just? the size of the meals that's different. I hope that this will put you at ease about it, you'll do just fine, promise :) By the way, you have beautiful teeth :)

Someone else hit the nail on the head when they said? that your mom didn't have second thoughts because she was older,yada,yada.You are so young & (thankfully!)you have not dealt with the results of being very overweight for 30+ years. Know that you are experiencing a normal reaction to getting ready 2 COMPLETELY change most aspects of your life,a big deal! Hey! I had a serious freak out about 3 weeks pre-op, but for only about 45 minutes. I think it is normal. My sister, her husband, and their daughter have all had the surgery, same doctor as mine, and they all said they experienced anxiety. My niece almost walked out the day of surgery. I had to be given valium the day of my surgery. In the end not one of us regrets it. You are beautiful and this will just enhance your physical appearance. You'll still enjoy Turkey day next year. Although I do hold a psychology degree, I am not licensed as a therapist. However, I can tell you that what I've read in the literature is that your case is quite common for many? forms of surgery. Your anxiety is nothing out of the ordinary, and if you've already planned this for many months and worked out the emotional details, it is likely that you're making the right choice. A bit of anxiety is no worry at all. Hope this helps.

She also said she had no second thoughts or anxiety. Why? I think being at their age having been over weight all their lives,its definately no longer a question why they SHOULDN'T go through with it. Just stay strong, know that you? will feel LOW before you see the positive benefits you will obtain. Most of all, do what your doing, talk to people, joke about it, continue to think about the future and what it has going for you and you'll be fine. Good Luck and hope all goes well in two weeks.

I had second thoughts, even after I fought 4 years to have surgery. Its in your head. Truely. Even now, almost 5 wks out I still second guess myself. But I stop acting like? a baby, gather my negetive thoughts and look at my outcome. I'm losing weight, I'll be healthy, I'll look and feel better and overall, FOOD if not eatin right will kill me. Food was my comfort, my friend, my depression supression and most of all my ENEMY!! My mom and I had the same surgene too, 3 years apart though.. cont'd
