Im so glad the ... By: CraftyLoops. on 07 May 12, 15:20:03 Im so glad the bookbinding tutorials are useful to you. Yes the 8 stitch is really strong for holding the signatures together, but its all about pulling the stitch up towards the top signature. If you knot? it downwards it may create a wobbly signature too but pulling and knotting it upwards makes all the difference. Im self taught at bookbinding so there has been a lot of trial and error but I finally got a stitch that works well. If you have a go, I would love to know what you think. Lee x

Hi Jess, thanks for ... By: CraftyLoops. on 11 May 12, 17:41:55 Hi Jess, thanks for your question. I tend to use my fingers, particularly in this tutorial as the glue was still wet from adding the glue. If you let the glue dry on the spine for at least the hour I recommended, it should be pretty dry at that stage and if you wish you can use a bone folder to glue the spine piece down. However if you are impatient like me and don't wait for the glue to dry I'd recommend just using your fingers as the glue will seep too far in to the paper.? TFW. Lee x
Question: I see ... By: Jazzyjess49. on 11 May 12, 15:56:32 Question: I see you're using your fingers to stick the card stock to binding, would it be ok to use a ruler or bone folder to do this? Or would it make the glue sink too far into the pages? Thanks for these tutorials. I think I've got to make one right away! TFS ? Jess

Yes you could ... By: CraftyLoops. on 14 May 12, 23:10:12 Yes you could certainly use mod podge. In fact if you preferred to add the paper cover with double sided tape (providing its strong like the red line tape), thats fine too. You can also add the plain? paper and add decorative paper on afterwards. You just need to work out whether you want it to wrap around the edges and be glued down like the plain paper or if not, you have to be aware that the paper could lift if you just stick it on to the front and not have it cover over the edges. Lee x

Hi Kaz,? yes you ... By: CraftyLoops. on 16 May 12, 10:54:42 Hi Kaz,? yes you can use waxed cotton thread too. I think I said that in the video. I wouldnt go much thicker than 1mm. I do have 2mm waxed thread but I find it too thick, but its up to you. I find if its 2mm thick it allows the signatures to have too much movement. Have fun. Lee x

Hi Christy. Thank ... By: CraftyLoops. on 07 May 12, 15:47:58 Hi Christy. Thank you for your lovely comment on the book tutorials. I really hope they were useful to you. Im like you, I far rather have a closed spine book than open spine even if they are harder to do. But as I said in the tutorial I have no idea? why I glued both inside covers on at the same time! So if you have a go just remember to add 1 inside cover page, glue down first and then add the back inside cover page. If you do make one maybe you would? let me know how you get on please? Lee x

It wasn't too much hard work filming them but getting them uploaded was a complete nightmare! I had them all edited etc and YT had a major glitch and some users cant upload over 15 mins so thats why part 2 and 3 are divided into A & B. I just started uploading those when the glitch happened!? You are the first I've seen that has shown how to do that style of? cover which is my favorite. I've seen so many do books with the spine of the signatures and the stitches showing and I don't really like those much. I'll be working on my first like that later today. I already have the signatures folded and ready to sew.

Here is my first ever altered box. I didnt want to plaster the top too much with loads of stuff, I just wanted to keep it simple. And as all the flowers are handmade by me, I really wanted them to be the main focus of the box. This is just a wee thank you gift for Kerry Denyer here on Youtube for me winning her giveaway. Thanks Kerry. Lee xx
This is a guitar Fiona and Ray kindly gave me so that I could alter it for my wee brother and give it to him for his birthday. Im so pleased how it turned out. It was a steal wire framed guitar.....that it until I got me mucky mitts on it!!
